The Earth Below

This film took a total of 4 days to film in Austin, Texas. The primary location involved the director’s friend’s apartment, the Austin City Hall, and an Art Gallery. The difficulty of filming this short film involved cheating a high budget science fiction look with a very micro budget. We accomplished this by utilizing the buy and return strategy. The wardrobe, for example, we purchased from online sites with great return policies. These stores included: Amazon and Zappos.

Shot Put

Shot Put had the shortest turn around time from initial idea to final completion. We made this short for the Tentsquare Challenge for the Fantasia Film Festival 20 year celebration. Within a week, we had a concept and a shoot day. Shooting took 4 hours and editing 2-3 days. We have not had much opportunity to do highly involved special effects and practicle effects, so the challenge of doing this project correctly was putting all of our eggs in the basket that our lead VFX artist, David Lackey would do a convincingly enough job. He more than delivered. David killed it.

Funemployment

Out of all our film projects, Funemployment, our debut feature film, by far surpasses all other of our Austin productions in terms of the use of Austin as a backdrop. In fact, this feature film develops Austin itself as a character. The film took 4 years of our blood, sweat, tears. Made with a super micro budget, financed through a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, we shot in over 30 different iconic Austin locations including: Jacob’s Well, multiple graffiti walls, local coffee shops, etc.
