15 Apr A Desk A Day: Stand Up Station
James Crouch has a desk that is set up to stand up while doing computer work. Most recently he was scrubbing footage he shot from SXSW for Do512. Below is the desk in all it’s stand up glory.

Today’s post is a little video Christine put together awhile ago. I think it really shows off how sound and editing work together to create the tone of films. I don’t know about you, but when I make dinner it sure isn’t this suspenseful. Check out the video below.
On Monday Christine, Kellie, and myself went through all the stuff Christine has accumulated since the creation of Moth to Flame. This photo was taken when we took a break to have dinner among all the equipment. We spent a decent amount of time just putting the Moth to Flame name on items. After long days on sets you can forget if extension cords and chargers are your’s or belong to the location owner. Also when the majority of your equipment is black it tends to blend in with other people’s equipment that also tends to be black. The rest…
Well SXSW 2015 is going on this week, so seemed fitting to share some interviews we did back in 2012. Check them out below!
Well there it is…my desk. I’ve mostly been doing blog work lately using wordpress to get it all setup and scheduled. A little rundown of what’s in the picture. Those big black speakers I use for music production, though they do come in handy when editing video. Also it’s nice to listen to music on good speakers. Reading is important to me so I always have a few books nearby. That orange halloween cup contains a variety of pens and pencils, paint brushes, tide to go pen(I spill things often), a pair or two of scissors, and some other random…
James Crouch attended this years Texas Film Awards and took some photos. Maybe you’ll notice a few people that look familiar.
On the set of the Doritos shoot we needed a magical smoke plum to transform a rather sleazy looking guy(played by Adam Duncan) into a more attractive man with Doritos shorts(also played by Adam.) In this gif you can see how Jonny Greenwald got the effect of a decent stream of fog, as opposed to the rather weak puffs the fog machine put out on it’s own. Basically a bag was filmed up with the fog then released all at once.
Here is Kellie Penna’s current workspace where she discusses shoots and editing notes with Christine who is currently out of town(as you saw last week.) This is her current intern, Casey Jones, who tends to distract from work more than help.
One of the most entertaining times working on the set of Funemployment was when we got to take over The Hideout Theater to serve as a backdrop for a scene. Lots of laughs were had during the filming of this scene as Matthew Broussard(pictured below) was allowed to do some improv for the cast and crew.
Today’s very first image ever for A Desk A Day comes from Christine Chen. She took this image while on a flight to Mumbai, where even in the air she was working away editing a Moth to Flame project. Come back next week for another image from the field.
