28 Feb Countdown To 2014 Oscars!
So this Sunday is the Oscars, now to most people it’s a time to look at celebrities on E! and talk about what they are wearing and who showed up with who. Not many though actually watch the entire telecast, I can count maybe a handful of people that I personally know that actually watch the Oscars. Each year I plan my day around watching the Oscars, I will cancel meetings, and reschedule things so I can be at home to watch.
Now you may ask when did this start and why? Well simply put I love films, I love being immersed and enjoy the spectacle that is on the big screen. That being said anything that recognizes these efforts I support, the Oscars is a special night where history is made and people’s dreams come true.
Yes it’s a four hour long telecast with categories, most people don’t care about other than the leading categories . But as I get older and being involved in this business the importance is relevant. Now some will say you shouldn’t base your career on winning awards. Which is true, but an Academy Award is the highest achievement there is to anyone in the film industry or the like.
So about four days from now we will experience another night in history, and I as I have the past fifteen years I have been watching will be tuned in. To me it’s not about seeing all the celebrities, though I have a sick obsession with Leonardo DiCaprio. It’s getting to see all the people that brought all the fabulous films of the past year get recognized for their hard work.
So with that being said, hopefully you too will be tuning in Sunday night!
