Casting for Funemployment has been an amazing experience. As one of the writers and the director, it is amazing to see something you’ve worked painstakingly on for almost two years, come to life. The journey thus far has been both emotionally challenging, but also rewarding. The quality of talent that came to our auditions and the quality of people who we will have the honor to work with far surpassed our expectations.

The next few months will start with numerous rehearsals and long shooting days. My only hope is that as more people become aware of the project or involved with the project, the more people will understand our need to make this film. Please follow our journey on our Funemployment Facebook Page

Here are some words from our other writer, Larissa Garica-Baab

I’m Larissa, a junior at the University of Texas, and though I’m relatively new to Moth to Flame films, it definitely doesn’t feel that way. Christine brought me on to help her finish her script, which was and is a dream come true for any 20-year-old college student, but I thought my involvement might end there. Well, I was definitely wrong.

Over the three shorts months I’ve been here (although it feels a LOT longer), I’ve met so many interesting people, made a lot of new friends, and sat through hours of auditions. You’d think that last part would be pretty hard, but even though it did get a little long, it was never difficult to watch so many talented people shine speaking our words. Our words. As a writer, there is no greater joy than having what you’ve written brought to life, and I am a speaking for both myself and Christine. And to hear it from so many colorful characters! No two actors, or experiences, were alike, and Christine and I left the audition room ready to go to bed, but happy and definitely pumped for the future.

You should be excited to see what these amazing folks can do, because we sure are. We’re still quoting some of the hilarious things they said during improv and wrote some of it into the script! All I know is I’m still caught up in the excitement that I’ve helped write, and will be a part of, such a funny, heartfelt, and down to earth movie (maybe that’s what will keep me going at 7 AM shoots).
