Surreal. The only way I can even begin to describe what I feel: Surreal. Other than that, no words come to mind. I remember how I responded to my professor when he told me that I had to experience India. “Absolutely not possible,” I replied given my current starving student/artist budget. He persisted by telling me that I could film for McCombs in exchange for a trip to India. “That would be amazing, but I’m not going to get my hopes up.” Even in the week before my scheduled, I almost drowned in the sea of midterms, papers, packing, and…

Two days of intense 8-10 hour day shooting, with crew call times of 6:00 am in the morning, and countless hours of editing later… we are proud to finally reveal the trailer for Bri Bagwell’s debut music video produced by ColoredLion.com and Mothtoflamefilms.com and directed by Christine Chen. What an amazing journey to the final product. We had a crew that supported us every day and a very talented artist, Bri Bagwell, to work with. So many people have helped to make this possible.   We will be hosting a VIP release party on Feb. 12, 2012 for those who helped…

MothtoFlameFilms.com, Coloredlion.com, BriBagwell.com, and RogerCreager.com… too many .com’s in a room as producer, Daran Herrman pointed out, met together in Christine’s upscale studio (her room that looks suspiciously like a dorm room) on Jan 25, 2012,  to see the 1st cut of Bri’s debut music video. The conclusion? Bri loved it. One of the biggest fears of a  filmmaker, in my opinion, is waiting on the verdict of a key stakeholder.   Though I am confident in my work, it is always hard to judge what the audience expects. Taste and preference are extremely subjective and what appeals to you may not to…

The Clinique video was release nationally on Dec 16, 2011 for the Clinique Happy Campaign. I had seen my video online before and freaked out of course, but nothing could compare to how I felt when I saw for the very first time today (in Memorial City Mall in Houston, Texas), a bit of my commercial being played at the Clinique counters. I geeked out. All of the Clinique ladies wanted to know why I was taking pictures of the TV screen. When I told them “That’s me in the commercial!” they geeked out too. What a great moment.

Check out what happened in 2011 and Moth to Flame’s goals for the new year!! Lots of new things in 2012. Many accomplishments in 2011, but we are already looking to do bigger and better things in the new year. If I didn’t mention you, I am sorry! I did this really fast. Off the top of my head, I totally forgot to mention David J Anderson for redesigning the Moth to Flame logo and Shannon Deane who continues to help me clean up my messy sound.

My friend Becka asked me if I could help film the Big Reds and Bubbles event, hosted by the Wine and Food Foundation of Texas. The moment she said free food from the best chefs in Austin and free wine, I said of course. It was a beautiful event with booths from different restaurants in Austin and over 100 different types of wines and champagnes. I ate way too much. The event took place at The Driskell Hotel and was packed the entire night. My favorite food item of the night was definitely the crab cakes made by Truluck’s. I…

Moth to Flame and coloredlion.com teamed together to capture Nick and Emily’s beautiful wedding. Nick and Emily approached my friend Daran Herrman from Coloredlion.com to capture their wedding in October 2011. Daran had done an amazing job with their engagement photos that they wanted to work with him again. Because Daran knows what’s good for him (just kidding), he contacted Moth to Flame to do the video portion. Daran and I filmed the entire day starting from 11 am to 2 am at night, capturing moments with the groomsmen and the bridesmaids getting ready, to the ceremony, and the party….

Moth to Flame decided to try their luck and enter not just one, but four separate spec commercials to the 2011 Doritos Crash the Superbowl Contest. Check out our entries and the making of video! I have been wanting to make a Doritos commercial ever since I saw the ones from 2010. They are so fun and clever. This year I came up with four different subjects. Each of these subjects were refined and perfected after bouncing off the ideas to several key members: Harold Williams, Graham Smith, Tom Beagles, and Nicholas Hasandras. Be sure to check out each of…
