02 Jun Vlog #9: 1st LA Impressions
The first few days of Los Angeles have been fun. LA welcomed me with open arms by showing me how difficult it is to park anywhere without getting a ticket. There is an interesting vibe in this city. Never have I been surrounded with so much art/entertainment based content. From street signs that say “Rent for Parking or Filming” to film sets, and crashing my friend’s Memorial Day party (filled with Actors, Writers, etc)… it has been an entertainment industry overload. This environment is inspiring, yet overwhelming at the same time. I feel so thankful to be surrounded by so many talented individuals and people seeking to make it in this industry. But, I also feel pressured to constantly be working because it is a “winner-takes-all society”. Late at night, I can’t help but wonder whether I am doing everything I can possibly do to advance my career. I get these late night urges to “DO SOMETHING” because I am not where I want to be at, but I look at 2:30 am flashing on the clock next to me and I just have to tell myself that I have to go to bed and be patient. Baby steps right?
I am making a list of goals. Things I want to do and accomplish here:
1. Volunteer at the LA Film Festival
2. Work as an Extra on a major set
3. Work on some sets
4. Make at least 1X 15-minute short film
5. Make 3-5 commercails to submit to Poptent
6. Meet a crap ton of people
The list continues…
Things I have done:
1. Found an apartment
2. Seen two major productions and tried to chase one down (My friend swears she saw Jesse Eisenberg)
3. Going to a film screening tonight
