Cali Blog #6: Super King and Flakes

Saturday equated to lazy day. I leisurely woke up and spent the first part of the day surfing the net, blogging, and editing photos. I am in general a major planner. For me, the habit developed through necessity and the nature of my personality (goal orientated/overachiever). There are so many things I want to do and I want to do all of them, that I tend to plan my day to try and include everything.

This may also be tied to typical MBA syndrome because I find that most of my non-MBA friends are complete opposites. They do not plan and actually detest it, which quite frankly drives me bat sh*t crazy. I am sure it drives them crazy too when I try to figure out “what’s the plan?” or ask them questions like “what time do you want to meet?” I cannot help it. For me, if something is not written in the books then that equates to not going to happen.

With that said, I am an extremely flexible person in terms of planning. Though it may be in the books, I understand that craziness happens and I am more than happy to adjust to change. I just rather have it on the schedule and make changes to that schedule. This does not excuse for flakiness however, one of my biggest pet peeves.

Anyway, I digress… the topic of flakiness will reappear later, I guarantee. After chilling for the first half of the day, Vivi and I went to Super King, an Eastern European super market. I had a blast. I love supermarkets, especially supermarkets selling things that I normally would not see. This supermarket was filled with cheeses, a million different types of breads and processed meats. I bought braided string cheese because it looked so fascinating (tastes good too!). As Vivi shopped, I took pictures with my DSLR until the store manager stopped me. Then continued to just take pictures with my cell phone. We bought so much stuff. Vivi and Eric probably have food for a month, the result of going shopping when you are hungry, never a good idea.

Time flies. Before we knew it, dinnertime was just around the corner. We had made plans to make a pizza, but because we knew we had a party in a few hours, we decided to just eat random stuff we bought. Eric left for San Diego and took the car and so Vivi and I chilled out at the house, watching Reno 911 and drinking the sangria that we made, expecting that our friend Nic would pick us up. That did not happen. Anyway, I am not going into details because it is not necessary and will only make me angrier, long story short, Vivi and I were stranded at home for the rest of the evening.

We made the most of the night however by taking photographs of our pretty outfits. I have always been fascinated by high fashion photography so I used the opportunity to mimic the post-editing techniques that I have seen in Vogue and other magazines and o spice up my Photoshop skills. Overall…an interesting day. In conclusion, if you say are going to do something, just do it. If something goes wrong, at least apologize. Do not leave your friends hanging. It is highly disrespectful and selfish. That is my little two cents.
