When Richard Brown from the Global Heartbeater Project approached Moth to Flame about developing a corporate video marketing strategy for a new invention called The SuperTrike, we were excited to be a part of it. Working with a new startup that is keen on building a solid video marketing strategy is quite rare because video production tends to take up quite a bit of resources and time that startups usually cannot budget for. Richard, however, is an innovator and he knew first hand that video marketing could help sp

Commercial Filming by Moth to Flame....   Most people dislike commercials. They are seen as annoying interruptions between your favorite shows and a way of “selling out.” It is not surprise considering most commercials are terrible. The problem is traditional commercials do not do a good job telling a story in a way that compels us to connect emotionally.   But why do people watch the Super Bowl just to watch the commercials? Because commercials can tell stories and there are companies out there that are doing so. We at Moth to Flame believe that ALL commercials should tell a...

Dear Diary,   Our first weekend of production on Funemployment, despite being stressful has been an incredible experience. I have spent the last few days recovering and reflecting on everything that has occurred thus far and the biggest conclusion that I have reached is that Moth to Flame is truly a blessed company.   It is a honor for me to work with and be surrounded by talent, crew, and friends who believe in Moth to Flame and our movie. I must say, several moments throughout filming, I felt like crying (and at some moments, did) because this dream that…

2012 has been a rollercoaster – a mix of intense growth and extreme lows. If I had to summarize the entire experience in one word, it would have to be “challenging.” I graduated this year from business school and took a leap of faith to not pursue a corporate job, but instead to follow my dream of building Moth to Flame. With school debt and a growing business, it has been an interesting learning experience, but I can proudly say that I survived. I more than survived actually. For the first time in my life, I focused 110% and sustained…

The last day of Comic-Con did not involve much Comic-Con. I had seen the panels I wanted to see, at least the ones I was willing to wait for, and had bought all the souvenirs I wanted to buy. So after volunteering, I spent only an hour before heading back to the hostel and giving one lucky guy a free badge for the rest of the day.   Instead of Comic-Con, I decided to go to the beach with Elsa without any camera. Of course I regretted the no camera decision once I arrived, so I took pictures with my…

I knew the Saturday lines and crowd capacity would be so insane that I spent the first part of my day avoiding them. I slept in, worked on my blog, and rolled into the Convention Center just in time for my shift at 1:00 pm.   My line management shift proved to me that I made the right decision. The lines were insane. Patience for me is not my strongest suit and I definitely do not understand how anyone can wait in line for 5 hours to see a 1-hour panel. That is total dedication! I guess if I had…

I started off the day with a few goals. 1.)  Find and meet the Wongfu Productions team 2.)  Find the batmobiles 3.)  Meet up with my friend Kelly Huddleston 4.)  Go out   I must say that I am very proud to have accomplished everything. It took some teamwork with Chris to do number 1 and 2, but I did it!   Anyway, the day started off with long lines. I learned very quickly that if you have an early morning shift like 10:30 am, they make you wait until 10:30 am to get your badge. As a result, if…

Vivi and I woke up at a relatively decent hour in the morning, expecting to try and catch the morning light for our graffiti photo shoot. Unfortunately, when Vivi took the dogs out, she came back saying that it was unusually hot outside. To provide a bit of context, in Cali terms, hot means anything greater than mid 70s. In Texas terms, hot means anything above 100. Regardless, my friend Dave wanted to meet up for lunch, so we decided to chill at home and work until then.   Vivi made me a wonderful breakfast of cut oats and fruit….

Blogging every day can be a bit time consuming, so today I decided to do what we call a Vlog, a video blog. I have not done this in a while because I find that I am a lot more interesting in writing than on screen, that’s what Kelsey Pribilski is for (check our for her blog post tomorrow), but for the sake of saving some time, here is our video blog from Huntington Beach. I will be less lazy tomorrow! Minimal photography… you’ll see why in the blog.     I did get a chance to take pictures of…
