What is the Longhorn Startup Camp? Longhorn Startup Camp is a startup for startups. A bare bones startup incubator, LSC offers UT students an unprecedented opportunity to develop their ventures in a professional atmosphere. The 30,000 square feet of office space seemed infinite when the camp opened in January 2012. By the time the camp ended in December 2013, all offices were full and over 500 university community members had gained access. Those 500 Longhorns contributed to the growth of over 50 innovative startups, 10 of which raised money. Many more are still operating today in the woodwork of Austin’s...

It is always a pleasure for Moth to Flame to film a Longhorn wedding. In fact, being asked to film a fellow classmate, advisor, or professor’s wedding is a great honor for me.  As many of you know, I went to McCombs Business School and my two years there had a significant impact on my life. I made a lot of long lasting friendships with many professors and colleagues. It is a time when I really discovered my voice as a filmmaker.  So a Longhorn wedding is almost like a mini reunion.   Recently, I had the honor of filming Amit…

Moth to Flame would like to congratulate Karina & Riz Amanullah on their fantabulous wedding. They had hands down one of the most exciting, well executed, and beautiful wedding events that we have had the pleasure of attending and filming. Of course they did considering their lovely wedding planner, Linda Lyons of Lyons Events, was in charge. This girl put on not just one, but three flawless events from Oct 31 – Nov 1, 2013. The decorations were spectacular, the atmosphere extremely opulent, and unique.   The best part about the wedding was the couple and the love that their…

One of the coolest things about doing what you love is that you get to film and meet other people who are just as passionate about what they do. This past weekend, Moth to Flame stopped by the Essential Oliver brand launch party, held at Delta Millworks.  Essential Oliver is a vintage lifestyle brand specializing in high craftsmanship clothing. Besides the awesome new looks, our favorite part about the party was meeting all of the sponsoring brands and companies.   Along the lines of our theme of Funemployment, Moth to Flame talked to many local brands ranging from coffee to…

It is crazy to think that 2013 has already come and gone and we are already planning for 2014 SXSW! As the date closes in, startups, artists, and other folks trying to make a statement should consider doing some video blogging. During these two intensive weeks, many of the Moth to Flame members enjoy cavorting around the streets of SXSW, which ranges from Rainey to Downtown to Auditorium Shores and more filming cool sites and sounds. This year will definitely yield some more awesome new videos, Instagram pics,  tweets, and more.   Staying active is important because more so than…

…..So three weeks and three trips to Houston later, I’ve got a dress and a Church!!! You have no idea how good it feels to have those 2 VERY important things done this early. I feel like I should get an award for only having to visit one church and 3 dress shops, but I know I got lucky. So I’ll try to keep things in perspective. But lets discuss a few things concerning these 2.   #1- THE DRESS: Wedding Dress – Lyceum Galveston Moth to Flame     I had looked at dresses online early on and…

And so it begins…….Countdown: 10 months… WEDDING We’ve all been to them, we all hear the stories, and we’ve all seen Bridesmaids. But ABSOLUTELY NOTHING can prepare you for actually planning one. Seriously, NO-THING.  I got engaged this past September – Octoberish (I’m really bad with dates). It was wonderful. My fiancé proposed in a way that was sweet/personal and it was perfect for who we are as a couple.   For about 2 weeks I was so excited, waving my ringed hand at anybody who’ll stand still long enough, answering all the questions on “How did he do…

Starring Arnold Swarzenegger, Forrest Whittaker, and Johnny Knoxville   The Last Stand is basically the Old West mixed with modern day firepower and a classic action hero. Arnold Swarzenegger plays Sheriff Ray Owens, the sheriff of a small, sleepy town on the U.S./Mexico border. This town also happens to be the last stop of a Mexican drug lord on the run from the FBI. Of course the sheriff, being an honorable Old West type, says, “Not in my town!” To preface this review, I would like that to say that I grew up watching action movies; that was father-daughter bonding...
