Moth to Flame presents Fellow “Funemployer,” Lizette López De Arriaga

Moth to Flame loosely defines being Funemployed as someone who has decided to pursue a passion/dream as his/her job. We are sure you have all heard the quote: “It is a beautiful thing when a passion and a career come together.” Well, take it from Lizette, she believes in this completely. Originally, we had wanted a local Austin startup to kick off our Funemployment Funemployer Campaign, but being that it is Lizette’s birthday today, we decided what a perfect way to celebrate her special day.

We met Lizette first in Los Angeles, California a few years ago, when we helped to film her Wellness Brand campaign, which advocates bringing healthier foods into people’s daily lives. We interviewed Lizette on what it is like to be Funemployed.  This is what she told us in response to our questions.

1. Describe who you are and what do you/ your company do?

I’m Chef Lizette: Entrepreneur, Transformational Speaker, Personal Food Coach. I’m Founder of the Wellness Brand CHEF LIZETTE. Encouraging and inspiring folks to use food as the catalyst for living well. We do this through education and empowerment.

2. What is Funempoyment to you and what does it feel like being able to pursue a passion?

Funemployment sounds like having FUN at what you do!! I believe the essence of living well is doing work that fulfills you and brings you JOY! It is truly humbling how blessed I am to be doing what I LOVE for 23 years. I’m so GRATEFUL!!

3. Tell us an anecdote of your best moment being funemployed (like when it all clicked)

After more than 15 years in my profession, I FINALLY realized how good I am at making other’s shine in their businesses. Accepting my gifts meant it was time to make my OWN business shine!

4. Any tips you have to offer to someone who wants to try pursuing a dream?

  • Hard Work
  • Patience
  • Be kind to yourself
  • Trust your inner voice
  • Master the “Art of Failing”

5. What has been the hardest part/challenges?

Slowing down: remembering that pursuing passionate work is a marathon … not a sprint! Now Go Make it Happen!!

Thank you Lizette for your inspirational words!

Happy Birthday!
