Guiltless Foods Promotional Video – Behind the Scenes Reflections… As a small business ourselves, one of Moth to Flame’s favorite things to do is create content for other local businesses. Recently, we had the opportunity to film a promotional video showcasing Guiltless Foods. For us, it is fascinating to follow the progress of new ideas. We understand the journey all too well… from the development of the concept to the planning to the final product and on top of that, the non-stop drive towards perfection. Starting a small business is difficult so it is always an honor for us to…

To promote our feature film, Funemployment, Moth to Flame teamed up with local startup online news company, Austin Phoenix to discover the different types of startups around Austin, Texas. To our surprise, we learned that Austin is not just full of tech startups. We interviewed several service based startups as well as some product based startups as well.    Many people, including myself often feel that the majority of all startups are tech. Though this may seem this way, Austin Phoenix and Moth to Flame decided to venture into the Austin startup community to find other non-tech startups. We discovered…

Moth to Flame loosely defines being Funemployed as someone who has decided to pursue a passion/dream as his/her job. We are sure you have all heard the quote: "It is a beautiful thing when a passion and a career come together." Well, take it from Lizette, she believes in this completely. Originally, we had wanted a local Austin startup to kick off our Funemployment Funemployer Campaign, but being that it is Lizette's birthday today, we decided what a perfect way to celebrate her special day.     We met Lizette first in Los Angeles, California a few years ago, when...

I knew the Saturday lines and crowd capacity would be so insane that I spent the first part of my day avoiding them. I slept in, worked on my blog, and rolled into the Convention Center just in time for my shift at 1:00 pm.   My line management shift proved to me that I made the right decision. The lines were insane. Patience for me is not my strongest suit and I definitely do not understand how anyone can wait in line for 5 hours to see a 1-hour panel. That is total dedication! I guess if I had…

You know the day is going to be awesome when a wet tongue wakes you up in the morning (a doggy tongue, you pervs)! I woke up to Atty, Eric’s beagle mix licking my face, quickly followed by his brother, Leo. Despite my best intention to ignore them, wet noses kept nudging at my hands, begging me to pet them. In fact, when I tried to half-ass pet them, in other words, just put my hand on them without any petting motions, Atty would patiently nudge my hand and lick my face until I paid attention. Finally, after ten minutes,…

The Patrón Social Club is one of the coolest venues that Moth to Flame recently had an opportunity to be a part… great food, drinks, and people. The biggest highlight of the day was getting to meet John Paul Dejoria himself, the founder of both Paul Mitchell products as well as Patrón. I have both heard the brand included in so many movies and hip-hop rap songs, and have definitely had a chance to have a drink or two (or three), but never imagined that I would have the chance to take a shot with JP himself. What a super…

Moth to Flame has two of the most talented Kelsies in the world. We know you already heard of Kelsey Pribilski on CMT, but did you know that Kelsey Park, one of our editors, is living it up at the Cannes Film Festival? Ya, we are that awesome. Read below to hear about her experience.   Cannes Film Festival: Day 10   Despite the never ending rain at Cannes, I have been enjoying the past several days and having a wonderful time! From 8 am to 7 pm every day, we wait in line for tickets and we run around…

Day 11 (Shopping Day!!) After having a full schedule the entire trip, it felt nice to wake up to no plans and leisurely have breakfast at 9:15 with Paul and a small group of stragglers (Aimy, Jeff, and Kevin), who were staying in Mumbai until 6 pm. I joked that, to save money, I would eat enough to last until dinner. The only real plans consisted of meeting with Suma’s little brother, Sujeet, at 2:00 pm to receive a cell phone that Suma’s family graciously allowed us to borrow. As breakfast ended, we planned to meet again after we all…

Day 9 (Everyday I’m Hustling) Bright and early, we began the day by setting off to see the famous Bombay Stock Exchange (Bombay is the same as Mumbai and often used interchangeably). Regrettably, I suck at finance and anything related, so I did not have much to contribute. One interesting thing: the current savings account interest rate is a whopping 8%. Unfortunately, the inflation rate however around 12% so people just lose money. Perhaps people could make money in the U.S. if they save their money in offshore accounts in India to get the 8% interest rate. I imagine strict…

Day 8 (Haggling and Slums) Today started painfully with a 5:30 am meeting time. To catch our flight to Mumbai on IndiGo we took a four-hour bus ride back to Delhi. Needless to say, multiple wake-up calls were at the ready.   On our way out, I recorded footage of the villages we passed on our way out of Ahmedabad. I fell asleep for various legs of the journey even though I sat in the very front of the bus, as Doggett had insisted, and the bus driver informed me that he needed me not to fall asleep or else…
