30 Jul Funemployment First Days of Production
Dear Diary,
Our first weekend of production on Funemployment, despite being stressful has been an incredible experience. I have spent the last few days recovering and reflecting on everything that has occurred thus far and the biggest conclusion that I have reached is that Moth to Flame is truly a blessed company.
It is a honor for me to work with and be surrounded by talent, crew, and friends who believe in Moth to Flame and our movie. I must say, several moments throughout filming, I felt like crying (and at some moments, did) because this dream that I have had in my head for so long is coming alive right before my eyes. My director of photography, William Molina drove all the way from Houston to help me out. My friend, Osei Bonsu donated his time AND Red Scarlett. My hardworking cast and crew worked for 15 hours straight on Friday and Sunday. Neon and More donated a “We Buy Gold” sign! I cannot thank them enough.
I just hope what I see in my head and what we produce will be able to elicit the same feelings and emotions running through my heart. I have learned these past few days that I am a very emotional director. In order for me to inject the same feelings into a film, I have to feel them. It has been tough because of this… both a cathartic and therapeutic process.
Luckily, amongst the highly painful scenes were many many moments of comic relief. I laughed so much on set. Some amazing quotes that happened on scene:…
During a sexually charged scene:
Adam: “You should just leave the camera and I will DP”
During our first scene of the day:
Jonny: “I was wondering why the crane was bowing… it was upside down. At the end of a shooting night:
Brittany: Can you have someone walk me to my car? Maybe Collin?
Christine: Are you sure Collin is the right choice?
A super cool group of people, who we later figured out to be filmmakers from Oregon, gave us their cooler full of random drinks and snacks for free! Free craft services! Made everyone’s day! We concluded our first day of shooting by taking shots in front of our car and chasing it with our prop whiskey (tea) watching the lightening. What an awesome bonding experience.
It is crazy to think that this has only been the first 2 days of shooting. We have so many more to go. Thank you to all those that have helped out so far. We need all the help we can get to bring this to reality, so if you would like to donate money, time, food, anything… we will gladly accept your help with open arms.
